Australian Family Visas

The Australian government recognises the importance of keeping families together. There are a variety of visa categories and classes available to family members of Australian citizens and permanent residents.

Parent Visa

You will be eligible for this visa if:

you are a parent of a child (natural, adopted or step child) who is a settled Australian citizen, settled permanent resident or settled, eligible New Zealand citizen.
at least half of your children are permanently resident in Australia.
you have more children living permanently in Australia than any other country.

Your spouse and other family members may be included in your application if they meet visa requirements.

Child Visa

This is a general term for visas relating to applicants under the age of 18 (although sometimes up to 25 years old), who are also dependents of an Australian citizen or permanent resident.

Remaining Relative Visa

This visa requires you to be sponsored by an eligible relative (or your relative's eligible spouse), in Australia.

Aged Dependent Relative.

You will be eligible for this visa if you rely on an Australian relative living in Australia for financial support. The visa requires that the applicant is of a certain age, is single, (divorced or widowed) and is financially dependent on their sponsor.
