Effective from 1 May 2004, nationals moving to the UK from the following countries (known as the A8) will need to register for the Worker Registration Scheme (WRS):

Requirements
If you are a citizen from one of the A8 countries, you should apply to register for the WRS as soon as you start a new job in the UK. If you do not apply within 1 month of starting your job, your employment will be illegal and you may have to stop working. Employers who hire non-registered workers are breaking the law and could be subject to a fine of up to £5,000.
