Immigration to New Zealand

New Zealand has always been high on the agenda of places to visit, due to it’s spectacular scenery and relaxed life-style. In recent years many of these travelers have decided to live their dream and make New Zealand their permanent home by emigrating due to the work-life balance this country affords them as well as its growing economy, providing many opportunities for skilled migrants.

A significant skills shortage exists in New Zealand, where some of the professions still in demand include: Nursing, computing professionals, engineering, medical staff, boat builders and electricians. The New Zealand Immigration Service (NZIS) has identified the importance of these skilled migrants and has structured its migrant policy around these skills shortages.

For those individuals wishing to migrate to New Zealand and do not meet the stringent New Zealand Skilled migration guidelines - there are other options such as: partner visas, parent visas, student visas and many more.

New Zealand’s doors are open to the youth through it’s Working  Holiday Visa Programme. To apply for a Working Holiday Visa, you need to be under 31yrs and from an eligible country. This will give you the right to live and work in New Zealand for up to 2 years.

For a New Zealand Skilled Visa you need to have an occupation that appears on the Long Term Skills shortage list (LTSSL). This could lead to permanent residency and ultimately New Zealand Citizenship.

If you do not meet the requirements of the skilled migrant policy for a New Zealand Visa then you may be eligible for the Work to Residence Visa, provided you are able to obtain a job offer from a New Zealand based Company.

If you have family in New Zealand and they are willing to sponsor you, then you could be eligible for the Sibling or Adult Child Visa, where you must also have an offer of employment for at least 12 months.

If you are in a relationship with a New Zealand Citizen or permanent resident, then you may be eligible for a spouse visa or defacto visa  under the New Zealand  Partner Migration Policy.
