New Zealand Parent Visa This visa is for people who want to live in New Zealand on a permanent basis and have an adult child who is either a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident. In some situations grandparents and legal guardians are also considered as parents. To be eligible you must: - Be the parent of an adult child (17 years or older) who is a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident
- Meet health and character requirements
- Have the centre of gravity of family living in New Zealand
- Supply evidence of the relationship between the you and your children, whether they live in New Zealand or elsewhere
- The sponsor must provide financial support and accommodation to the applicant for a period of up to 24 months if necessary
- The sponsor must have lived in New Zealand for a minimum of 3 years to be eligible to act as a sponsor
If you are the grandparent(s) of a child living in New Zealand and you wish to apply for this visa, you must show evidence of the child’s relationship to you, and evidence that your grandchild’s parents are deceased. |
